Job Summary

Steege Construction is seeking a motivated and experienced Commercial Superintendent to oversee commercial construction projects from start to finish. This position is responsible for coordinating daily jobsite activity, managing subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, ensuring quality workmanship, and promoting a safe and efficient work environment. The Commercial Superintendent plays a key role in delivering projects on time, on budget, and to the high standards Steege Construction is known for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations on commercial construction jobsites

  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel

  • Maintain project schedules and help keep projects on track

  • Read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents

  • Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and internal teams

  • Ensure all work is completed according to plans, specifications, and quality standards

  • Enforce safety standards and maintain a clean, organized jobsite

  • Identify and resolve jobsite issues in a timely and professional manner

  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to project managers

  • Schedule inspections and ensure compliance with building codes and regulations

  • Assist with material coordination and delivery scheduling

  • Maintain accurate jobsite documentation, including daily logs and progress updates

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in commercial construction supervision required

  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction processes, sequencing, and jobsite management

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and construction drawings

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple moving parts while maintaining attention to detail

  • Commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism

  • Computer and technology skills preferred for communication, schedules, and documentation

  • Valid driver’s license required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing commercial remodels and new construction projects

  • OSHA certification or willingness to obtain

  • Strong background in coordinating multiple subcontractors and trades

  • Experience with scheduling and project management software is a plus
