Job Summary
Steege Construction is seeking an experienced and motivated Commercial Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects from pre-construction through final completion. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all aspects of commercial projects including budgets, schedules, subcontractor communication, material procurement, and overall project execution. The Commercial Project Manager will work closely with clients, subcontractors, superintendents, and internal team members to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the high standards Steege Construction is known for.
Key Responsibilities
Manage commercial construction projects from start to finish
Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and timelines
Coordinate with clients, architects, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams
Review plans, specifications, and contract documents
Prepare and manage project estimates, proposals, and buyout processes
Oversee subcontractor selection, coordination, and communication throughout the project
Monitor project costs and track budget performance
Process and manage change orders, purchase orders, submittals, and project documentation
Work closely with field superintendents to ensure smooth jobsite operations
Identify and solve problems proactively to keep projects moving efficiently
Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to clients and team members
Ensure projects are completed in compliance with quality standards, safety expectations, and contract requirements
Manage project closeout, punch lists, and final documentation
Qualifications
Previous experience in commercial construction project management required
Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, schedules, budgeting, and sequencing
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Experience working with subcontractors, vendors, and clients
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Proficient with computers, email, and project management software
Valid driver’s license required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in commercial remodels and new construction
Estimating or pre-construction experience
Knowledge of construction scheduling software and project management systems
OSHA knowledge or certification is a plus
